Penny, I know how very much you loved your father, and how overwhelmed you feel at this time of great loss. It's moving to hear how many relatives and friends had come to the hospital to see him, with you at his side, and have tried to be a comfort since his passing. I wish I could be among them tomorrow, at his funeral, to say goodbye to a good man I had never met, but have heard so much about for almost 50 years, from the daughter who adored him. I will always owe your father a huge debt of gratitude, for raising the exceptional person who is my dearest friend.

Bob was my Dad's cousin, Cecil Carter. My parents always shopped there for things particularly the meat and cheese which they were always great. My dad bought his gas there too and so didn't I when I started driving. I remember when my dad would go in to shop or even pay his bill. That Bob would always set him up with a Coke in which my dad drank. I remember Ray doing all the meat back at the meat counter and Norman pumping gas or taking your groceries out for you. Then also all the others that stood around there talking at times. I also remember the old store that they tore down when they widen the road and had to move it back and rebuilt it back the same as it was before. I miss that store every time I ride by there on my way down to the Delmar Auction's on the weekends. I wish it was still there and I would love to see some pictures of it again if anyone has any. All I can do is to remember it in my brain. I am so very sorry for your lose Penny. You take care of yourself... Your cousin, Rick Carter

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I can tell he was a wonderful father and man- someone to be loved and admired. He was fortunate to have you for his daughter, and I hope the many warm memories of him will give you comfort. I always loved a quote by Helen Keller: “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never loose; for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”

I saw your beautiful art at the RH art exhibition Main Street. It made me think back to art class with Ms Kuykendal. I see Nancy Reese once a year and took up oil painting when I retired from teaching. I’d love to see you anytime you are in RH.
